Prigozhin also accused the Ministry of Defense of interrupting the practice in which PMCs were supposed to take back released prisoners to war if they committed crimes.

Prigozhin named the total number of prisoners who passed through PMCs – 50 thousand people, of which about 20%, that is, about 10 thousand, died.

The figures voiced by Prigogine correlate with those that were at the disposal of Western intelligence. At the end of December, according to Washington, 50,000 people fought in the Wagner PMC, of ​​which 40,000 were prisoners. By mid-February, according to US intelligence, the group had lost 9,000 men killed and 30,000 wounded, according to US intelligence data.

The prisoners who served in PMCs began to return home at the beginning of the year. Since then, reports of serious crimes committed by them have become regular. In recent months, at least six such cases have been the subject of intense media attention.

Suspect arrested this week in the rape of two girls aged 10 and 12. The Telegram channel Baza wrote that the detainee was a former PMC fighter. Also in May, in the Volgograd region, three “Wagnerites” who returned from the war were detained on suspicion of robbery and extortion, and in Lipetsk, a former PMC fighter robbed a store.
