Waasland-Beveren gives ‘top fans’ priority for an extra 70 euros

Waasland-Beveren launched a remarkable initiative for its subscription sales, which started last week. Anyone who pays an extra 70 euros as a subscriber will receive priority as a ‘top fan’ in the matches with a limited audience. On top of that, those top fans also receive a sweater, a flag and three separate tickets. Crazy or genius? The concept is catching on, because about half of the Beverse subscribers have now bought such a package.

Waasland-Beveren is the first Belgian club to respond to the issue of the possible limited capacity due to the corona virus. The supporters react divided. “For some fans, 70 euros extra is a serious bite out of the budget, especially in these times,” says Ingwin Daman of supporters club Beverboys. “Although it is worth the money.”

Supporters Liaison Officer Wim Van Goethem thinks it is a good initiative. “It does have some advantages. And at other clubs it will be more of a lottery. ”
