Yes, also the second generation of the VW bestseller SUV Tiguan has been on the market for four years now and what does that mean according to the general rules of the industry? Right, high time for a facelift. Especially in the shark tank of the compact SUVs, you can’t afford any weaknesses.
The official launch of the revised Tiguan is expected to take place in the coming months. In any case, the work for the accompanying advertising campaign is already in full swing, as this picture shows.
The 2020 Tiguan in the normal, five-seat version was shot in an unknown location. CocheSpias published the picture on Instagram. The quality of the snapshot is unfortunately not particularly good, but some interesting details can still be made out.
On the one hand there are the completely new headlights that are attached to the Golf 8 recall. We also see a modified front apron with larger air intakes and an overall smoother look.
We assume that the car in the photo is an R-Line model, simply because of the XL air intakes mentioned and the large black wheels, which are 20- if not 21-inch models got to.
Although not visible here, the rear lights and the rear bumper should also come in a new design. Possibly we will also place the “Tiguan” model lettering in the middle of the tailgate (under the VW logo), as can already be seen with other models such as the Arteon or the new Golf.
According to a report last September the facelift of the Tiguan was unveiled later this year, along with a Tiguan R Concept that is in principle ready for series production, The performance version is scheduled to come on the market in 2021 and will receive a two-liter turbo gasoline engine with slightly more than 300 hp, which will distribute its power to all four wheels via a 7-speed DSG.
We may see the facelift of the 4.48-meter SUV already at the Geneva Motor Show 2020 in March. The revised seven-seater Tiguan Allspace should follow shortly thereafter with the same changes.
