VVD member Mulder leaves the House of Representatives, nominated as alderman The Hague | NOW

VVD member Anne Mulder is leaving the House of Representatives. He is nominated as the new councilor of The Hague, reports the VVD The Hague Thursday.

Mulder must succeed Deputy Mayor Boudewijn Revis, who is leaving next month for a job at Staatsbosbeheer.

Mulder was previously a councilor for the VVD in The Hague. In 2010 he was elected to the House of Representatives as parliamentary group spokesman for Foreign Affairs. He is also one of the rapporteurs of the House of Representatives on Brexit.

Officially, the Hague city council has yet to agree to Mulder’s appointment. That vote will take place after Revis’s farewell on September 17.

With Mulder’s farewell, another Member of Parliament is leaving prematurely. In May the counter stood at 26 since the elections in March 2017. In June, VVD MP Bas van ‘t Wout was added, who succeeded Tamara van Ark as State Secretary for Social Affairs.

It is not yet known who will be Mulder’s successor in the House of Representatives.
