VR version of Resident Evil 4 coming October 21 for Oculus Quest 2 – Gaming – News

Capcom will release the VR version of the horror game Resident Evil 4 on October 21. The game will be released exclusively for the Oculus Quest 2 on that date. The company is also showing new gameplay footage of the game.

In a trailer Oculus shows the first extensive gameplay footage, where the companies previously only showed short fragments from the horror game. In the trailer, among other things, the merchant, various weapons, puzzle fragments and multiple enemies from the game are shown.

The VR variant differs in several ways from the original from 2005, Oculus writes in a blog post. The new version will include a first-person perspective. The original had a third-person perspective. Gamers can play the game sitting or standing and move through the game world via ‘teleportation’, the analog stick of the Oculus Touch controllers, or room-scale-movement.

Weapons and items have been redesigned, according to the company, so players can pick them up directly from the environment and use them via the Touch controllers. Users can also switch weapons by, for example, taking them out of a holster. In previous Resident Evil 4 versions, this went through menus. Gamers can also carry a weapon in each hand and move while firing, which was not possible before, writes The Verge.

The VR version of Resident Evil 4 was announced in April during the Oculus Gaming Showcase. Capcom, Oculus Studios and Armature Studio are collaborating on the game. Resident Evil 4 VR will be released on October 21 exclusively for the Oculus Quest 2. The VR version will not be available on other platforms, nor will the original Quest be supported. By making the game only for the Quest 2, the developers did not have to take into account the lower processing power of the old version. It is not yet known what the game will cost.
