Vox leader Santiago Abascal tests positive for coronavirus | Politics

The leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal, has confirmed this Thursday in a message on Twitter that has tested positive for coronavirus when performing a test after knowing the positive of Javier Ortega Smith two days ago.

“This Tuesday, upon hearing the positive of Javier Ortega, I quarantined and asked a private laboratory for a Covid-19 test. The test has also tested positive so I will continue working from home. Thank you for your concern, although I am reasonably well, “he said.

Abascal has published more messages on his personal Twitter profile in which he has reported that will request Pedro Sánchez to participate by videoconference in the meeting that the Prime Minister will maintain with the leaders of the political parties next Monday to “be able to contribute our vision and proposals.”

In addition, it has taken the opportunity to request “unity of action” from the Executive and to request that the alarm status be decreed so that “all the resources of the State are dedicated to alleviating this pandemic”, which he describes as “brutal health, economic and social crisis”.

Santiago Abascal is the first leader of a political party in Spain to test positive for coronavirus. However, this Thursday the positives of two ministers of the Government of Spain were known: Irene Montero and Carolina Darias, Ministers of Equality and Territorial Policy, respectively.
