According to RTL Belgium, the ambassadors of the EU countries and of the Schengen area proposed on Friday evening a list of about fifteen states whose contamination level with Covid-19 would make it possible to consider them as “safe”, allowing their residents to come to Europe in July. The EU Presidency hopes to be able to vote on Monday.

The proposed list contains 14 countries (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Canada, Australia, Japan, Georgia, Montenegro, New Zealand, Rwanda, Serbia, South Korea, Thailand, Uruguay), to which China is added, subject to reciprocity, that is, on the condition that it receives travelers from the EU on its soil

The list should be reviewed every two weeks. It fixes several epidemiological criteria so that a country can integrate it, in particular a rate of new cases of Covid-19 close to or below 16 per 100,000 inhabitants (average in the EU) over the last 14 days; a tendency for new cases to remain stable or to decrease; the measures put in place to fight the pandemic (tests, etc.).
