Volvo Trucks has delivered the first large tonnage electric truck equipped with a concrete mixer

Electrification is also starting to conquer the heavy-duty truck segment, and those from Volvo Trucks are among the first to offer in this sector.

Volvo Trucks recently delivered the first heavy-duty electric truck equipped with a concrete mixer to a construction company.

Electric revolution in transport

A heavy-duty Volvo FMX electric drive truck configured to transport a concrete mixer has been delivered to the first customer and will be used on a project in Germany.

Volvo FMX electric truck range it can be configured with 4×2, 6×2​ and 6×4 axles if the tractor is chosen and with 4×2, 6×2, 6×4, 8×2 and 8×4 rigid axles.

FMX can be ordered with low day cab, day cab, low sleeper cab, sleeper cab and Globetrotter cab.

The FMX model equipped with a concrete mixer has an electric propulsion system consisting of two motors with a total power of 442 HP.

The electric system is supported by a pack consisting of four batteries with a capacity of 360 kWh and those from Volvo Trucks claim that the autonomy can exceed 300 kilometers on a single charge.

The batteries can be charged in approximately 9.5 hours at a 43 kW AC station or in 2.5 hours at a 250 kW DC fast station.

And a company from Romania bought an electric truck from Volvo

Volvo Trucks delivered the first electric truck to a company in Romania just a few months after the start of production.

The chosen model is a Volvo FH 4×2 T Electric tractor of 40 tons MTMA as a whole, with a pack of 6 batteries, a total capacity of 540 kW (6 batteries of 90 kW each).

The truck has 3 electric motors, which provide continuous power of max. 490 kW, and will ensure a load autonomy of up to 300 km per charging cycle.

The tractor is equipped with the updated Volvo I-Shift gearbox for electric trucks with a new gear change strategy. The gearbox works mainly in the upper gears, from 7th upwards, and minimizes the number of gear changes to provide more efficiency.

The Volvo FH Electric transport combination together with a 100% electric semi-trailer will be used for urban and regional deliveries
