Volunteers from the Parish Cáritas of the Arciprestazgo de Zamora city, Arciprestazgo de El Pan, El Vino, Sayago and the Interparroquiales de Toro and Benavente visit the Regional Center for the Rehabilitation of Alcoholics.
Lorena Prieto, director of the center, received the volunteers who arrived accompanied by the technicians from the Community Animation program and the person in charge of the Communication and Volunteering program.
The director guided those present through the facilities and explained how the center works. It should be remembered that the CRRA “San Román” is a therapeutic community that works with a therapeutic-educational intervention model, the work is articulated through individual, group, educational, occupational, family street therapy in an integral way and interrelated, using an active and participatory methodology. Residents work in areas such as laundry and cleaning, cooking or the garden.
As Lorena Prieto pointed out, the main objective is the comprehensive recovery of the alcoholic dependent person at a physical, psychological, family, work and social level for their subsequent reintegration into society. For it “The family constitutes a very important support in this recovery process. The chances of success are much higher when they are by your side. We also work with families, providing them with guidelines and tools, holding meetings with them…”.
This visit, framed within the Interdiocesan Fund, included an activity on the occasion of the Caritas Internationalis campaign “Together. Let’s act today for a better tomorrow”. All together they prayed for the care of the planet and the time of creation, to later plant two trees, an apple tree and a pear tree, as a symbol of their commitment to care for the planet, trees that all the residents will care for and maintain. from the center.
