Volkswagen resumes production at a second auto plant in Argentina

The German Volkswagen branch in Argentina announced that the company will resume production at its second location in Argentina.

The plant will be operating in General Pacheco, near Buenos Aires, gradually from Monday.

The company said that workers’ temperatures will be measured regularly, and that they will have to wear masks and maintain a distance of 1.5 meters from each other.

The company added that it had a positive experience with such measures at the other Argentine site in Cordoba, where production was resumed at the end of April.

Volkswagen has closed its operations in Argentina and many other countries due to measures to stop the spread of the emerging Corona virus.

In Mexico, the headquarters of one of the largest Volkswagen manufacturing sites in the Latin American region, it will soon be possible to operate car production lines again.

The Mexican government announced last Wednesday that the manufacture of cars and spare parts will be added to the list of basic industries.

In Germany, Volkswagen has resumed operations to close some again due to falling sales during the crisis.
