After the premiere and the first rides with the ID.3 hatchback, one would not expect a big surprise in the interior of the SUV technically related to it, and according to the pictures published by Volkswagen, he would be right. Dominant interior elements, such as the steering wheel, instrument panel with gear selector and central display, remain the same.

There are differences, after all, in the shaping of the dashboard mass under the controls. The center tunnel with drink holders and lockable boxes behind them is also different, while unusual window controls with switching between front and rear doors remain, as well as pause and play icons on the brake and accelerator pedals.

Klaus Zyciora, a former chief designer of the Volkswagen brand and the current head of design of the entire VW Group, is behind the interior design. “ID.4 brings a new perception of space to its class thanks to our new MEB modular platform for electric cars,” the carmaker’s press release quoted him as saying.

Under the motto “Typical SUV”, Volkswagen also writes about the higher position of the seat and the large doors, which together make boarding easier. We also learn the volume of the trunk in the basic configuration – 543 liters, about 150 more compared to the hatchback ID.3.

ID.4 will be launched in a version called 1st Max, in which it will offer seats with AGR certification (Aktion Gesunder Rücken, Czech Action healthy back). Their upholstery is described by the carmaker as vegan – it is made of artificial leather and ArtVelours microfiber, which is 20% recycled PET bottles.
