Australian mixed martial artist Alexander Volkanovski commented on the defeat in the title fight with the Russian Islam Makhachev to the UFC 284 tournaments.
“A little more and Makhachev would have been finished. I rocked and knocked him down with my punch. After that, I jumped on top of him and started punching him. Again, he was just trying to hold on, and even when he was just trying to hold on, he couldn’t. I started throwing a few punches, and time slipped away from me, ”BJ Penn quotes Volkanovski.
Earlier, Volkanovski offered Makhachev a rematch, and the Russian agreed.
Recall that the fight between Makhachev and Volkanovski took place on February 12 in Perth (Australia) at UFC 384. Islam, having won by unanimous decision of the judges, defended the UFC lightweight championship belt for the first time.
