Vokswagen unveils the Tiguan eHybrid, its new plug-in hybrid SUV

Volkswagen unveils its new hybrid SUV this week, the Tiguan eHybrid. Incorporating a heat engine and a rechargeable electric motor. The latter, offering a power of 85 kW, offers a maximum speed of 130 km / h. Its battery has a range of 50 kilometers. The Tiguan eHybrid is expected in France in early 2021, but the prices have not been announced.

As ID.4 looms on the horizon, Volkswagen today introduced the new Tiguan, replacing the best-selling SUV in the Vokswagen group with nearly 910,000 units produced to date. Three years after the second generation of Tiguan, the German brand is therefore modernizing this range which includes, with this new version, three versions: the classic, with thermal engine, a more sporty R version, and a plug-in hybrid version, the Tiguan eHybrid. It is obviously the latter that interests us most.

Hybrid in nature, the Tiguan eHybrid incorporates two engines. The first is a 150 horsepower petrol engine. The second is an electric motor of 85 kW, the equivalent of 116 horsepower. Together, they therefore offer a cumulative power of 245 horsepower. Note, however, that the electric motor provides sufficient power to launch the Tiguan eHybrid at a maximum speed of 130 km / hour.

100% electric range of 50 kilometers

The power of the rechargeable battery has not been revealed, nor even the maximum power for recharging. However, Volkswagen says it offers a range of 50 kilometers. It could be the same battery 13 kWh which you will find in particular in the Seat Tarraco eHybrid.

Among the equipment (including some optional) of the Tiguan eHybrid (and also other versions), you will find an on-board computer MIB3 (the latest generation at Volkswagen) with a large touch screen, driving assistance Travel Assist, touch buttons on the steering wheel to control certain elements, a signed audio system Harman Kardon and an LED screen for the dashboard.

The Tiguan eHybrid will not arrive in France before the start of next year, a little after the Golf GTE. Its price, in France or elsewhere, has not yet been revealed. But it will certainly be quite high.
