The forecasts of the Ministry of Health show that already in the middle of October, about 2,000 new infections per day could be detected in Latvia, the Minister of Health Daniels Pavļuts (AP) said at the government meeting.
Specialists predict that at the end of October, 1,600 to 2,700 new cases of Covid-19 will be discovered in Latvia per day. Accordingly, the number of inpatients is also expected to increase significantly. “So in the second half of October, hospitals will have at least 1,200 patients instead of the current 630,” Pavluts said.
According to Pavluts’ presentation, the number of inpatients will reach 1,000 to 1,300 patients by the end of October.
It has already been reported that 1,010 new cases of Covid-19 were registered in Latvia last day and reports of 14 deaths of 14 Covid-19 patients were received, according to data compiled by the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (SPKC).
The cumulative incidence of morbidity during the previous two days has increased from 600.6 to 627.9 cases per 100,000 population. The higher cumulative indicator in Latvia has been observed only during the “peak” of the previous winter Covid-19 wave in January, when it fluctuated above 600 from December 30 to January 23, but in some days approached 700.
In the past day, one of the deceased Covid-19 patients was between 50 and 59 years of age, one between 60 and 69 years of age, four between 70 and 79 years of age, six between 80 and 89 years of age and two between 90 and 89 years of age. 99 years.
