It seems that the company Vivo started thinking big and confident of itself and wants to take risks with its next flagship phone, which is expected to bear the title of Vivo X100 Pro Plus, as it is said that the phone will bring a variable lens aperture and a 200-megapixel telephoto camera.
And why not do it! The Vivo X90 Pro Plus came with amazing visual capabilities and ranked well on DXOMark as the best smartphone in terms of camera quality and performance for the year 2023. Although it did not come in the first places, it is enough to be in the middle of the list.
Vivo is clearly looking for more. The Vivo X90 Pro phones didn’t offer variable aperture, and none of them had a 200MP telephoto camera, not even close to it.
However, these phones feature a 1-inch main sensor, and the Vivo X100 Pro Plus will most likely come with the same sensor. Variable lens technology will make this sensor more useful than before, which is evident on the Xiaomi 13 Ultra.
However, we weren’t too happy with the camera performance on the latter. So, let’s hope Vivo succeeds in creating things its own way and differently.
The Xiaomi 13 Ultra has a variable aperture that supports two stops, while Huawei offers on the Mate 50 Pro and P60 Pro more levels.
Although Huawei has not yet used a 1-inch sensor, it still wins this battle from all its competitors significantly, and it is clear that the variable lens plays a key role in this success.
If Vivo can properly exploit the variable aperture lens, it can be expected to deliver more balanced results, as well as better image quality in low-light conditions.
Unfortunately, we don’t know much about Vivo’s future plans and what the Vivo X100 Pro + phone will bring, but we are definitely excited about what’s coming from the Chinese brand. We just wish we knew what the number of aperture levels will be before the phone hits store shelves.
The leak also added that the phone has a 200MP telephoto camera, which is pretty impressive. We don’t have exact details about this either, but pixel assembly technology will certainly be an essential aspect of this camera.
The Vivo X100 Pro Plus will come with a 6.78-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate and will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. Alongside this, there will be LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.
The next Vivo phone will be a flagship and will have an ultrasonic under-display fingerprint scanner and will be IP68 certified.
