Vivo V29 is a hot new product in the upper-middle class field
It offers an interesting camera, a high-resolution display and fast 80W charging
The price was set at CZK 11,999 including VAT for the 8/256 GB variant
The Chinese Vivo brought its new upper-middle class phone called the V29 to the Czech market. The novelty has a very stylish design, an interesting set of cameras with a light ring and fast charging. It is also worth mentioning a quite unique element, namely resistance to water and dust.
Design, luminous ring and display
The stylish design of the Vivo V29 attracts at first glance, especially in the blue variant we tested. The glass surface of the back offers a sand or stardust motif, and a relatively large photo module (nothing new for Vivo) with an Aura Light light ring is a pleasant design feature. Thanks to it, you can regulate the temperature of the night scene, especially for macro photos and portraits.
Otherwise, the body is made of plastic, but it offers a glass surface on the back and front. In addition, the smartphone is protected by IP68 certification against water and dust. This is not quite standard in this price category.
Vivo V29 display
There is a screen on the front. The AMOLED display has a diagonal of 6.78″ and a resolution of 1.5K, i.e. 1,260 × 2,800 pixels (total resolution of 452 ppi). The display also offers HDR10 and, of course, a rich refresh rate of 60 Hz, 120 Hz, or a smart dynamic mode. Just be careful, the cover glass of the display is slightly rounded on the sides. It also has a notch and an optical fingerprint reader.
Performance and equipment
Performance at the level of the price category is guaranteed, because the Vivo V29 offers the still very popular Snapdragon 778G chipset in cooperation with the Adreno 642L graphics unit and 8/256 GB memory (the RAM can be virtually expanded by another 8 GB). It is a pity that the manufacturer did not reach for a newer chip, this one was already released in the first half of 2021.
The neckline is really tiny, as is the lower chin
Other equipment certainly includes 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, GPS, Android 13 with Funtouch OS superstructure and also a slightly below-average battery with a capacity of 4,600 mAh. Fortunately, this lithium-polymer battery also has very fast charging with a power of 80 W, which should charge the phone from 1 to 100% in 35 minutes. And the corresponding adapter is safely stored in the sales package.
Strong camera on both sides
Vivo V29 is a visibly lifestyle-tuned phone, which corresponds to one of the most important elements, namely the camera. On the back there is a 50 Mpx main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), an 8 Mpx wide-angle camera and a 2 Mpx monochrome sensor. There is also dual LED lighting, which complements the aforementioned Aura Light.
Vivo V29 in blue design looks very handsome
The camera supports 4K at 30 fps, or Full HD video at 30 and 60 fps, including optical stabilization. The front camera is certainly not lacking, it offers a resolution of 50 Mpx, is relatively wide-angle and, above all, has high-quality autofocus.
Price and availability
The Vivo V29 smartphone is already entering the Czech market, in the form of a pre-sale. It is available in black matte and blue glossy color variants and in a single memory version of 8/256 GB. The official price is 11,999 CZK including VATthe leaks before the premiere were not lying.
If you purchase the phone from August 1 to 14, you will also receive Vivo TWS 2 wireless headphones with active noise cancellation as a gift, which normally cost almost 3,000 crowns including tax. The sharp start of sales of the new Vivo phone is scheduled for August 15.
