Vivo to Leave Smartphone Market in Poland, Oppo Denies Rumors – Kompas.com

KOMPAS.com – Vivo has officially decided to leave the smartphone market in Poland. This news was originally just a rumor, but then Vivo confirmed that it would leave the country in Central Europe.

Vivo itself is present in Poland through a local distributor. Well, this distributor will end Vivo’s existence in Poland.

According to Vivo, the decision to leave Poland was made after analyzing the market with its partner company.

“Continuous market analysis and selection of the right business strategy, in consultation with local representatives is very important for Vivo. With a heavy heart, we inform you that the official distributor of the Vivo brand in Poland has decided to stop operating,” said Vivo’s statement, quoted by KompasTekno from GSM Arena, Friday (9/6/2023).

Even though it’s out, Vivo ensures that customer support will still be continued, including for software updates for Vivo smartphones. However, Vivo consumers in Poland can no longer officially propose to a Vivo brand smartphone.

Alternatively, they have to import Vivo smartphones from other countries or switch to another brand entirely.

Oppo catch up?

Along with Vivo’s release, there has been speculation that Oppo will also leave Poland. The reason is, these two brands are under the auspices of the same parent company, namely the BBK Group.

However, these rumors were denied by Oppo. The company says it is still operating in Poland. Moreover, in the near future Oppo has also scheduled the launch of its new cellphone in the near future.

“We strongly deny rumors about leaving Poland. This country is a very important market for us and we have scheduled the launch of (new products) at the end of the year,” said Oppo Poland.

In July, Oppo is also scheduled to launch the Reno 10 series line in Poland. There are also other new products including IoT devices to the new Oppo Air3 Pro, in the following months.

Vivo and Oppo themselves seem nervous about the European market. The indications can be seen from the closure of the websites of the two companies, such as in Germany, especially after Oppo was sued by Nokia over patent matters. The Vivo Netherlands website is also reportedly offline, but Oppo is still active.

As for France, these two brands are still active, although rumors circulating from insiders say that Oppo will leave at the end of this month.
