Vivo Patents Smartphone with Extendable Screen

Jakarta, Selular.ID – Vivo smartphone patent with extendable screen has been leaked online. The Chinese technology giant seems ready to introduce this new smartphone.

As previously reported by 91mobiles, the patent was filed by vivo at the World Intellectual Property Organization in May 2021. The patent was published on December 2 and contains an image of the slide concept.

The screen of Vivo’s latest upcoming smartphone can indeed be extended, but it does not fall into the foldable phone category. The patent image shows the phone will have an extendable screen that extends from right to left and gives users an extra screen.

The extendable vivo phone expands from the right spine and pinches back when not in use. This smartphone will also be equipped with a motor that when triggered automatically brings up the screen.

The screen is likely to be expanded manually with the help of touch or physical triggers, while some tasks like accessing the rear camera are likely to trigger this response automatically as a triple camera module can be observed on the left side of the phone, which appears when the screen is extended.

Regarding the speaker, it can be seen in the patent image that its position is at the top, while the USB Type-C port is on the right spine. This phone has a hole in the front for selfies.

At first glance, looking back, Vivo is not actually the first company to try a sliding phone, because Oppo has previously made a smartphone with such a concept called the Oppo X. However, there are no commercially available slide phones yet.

Because the Vivo slide phone is still in the patent stage, it is not known for sure when this device will be introduced soon. Therefore, stay tuned for news about this upcoming smartphone.
