Vítkovice owner Aleš Pavlík resigned from the post of president of the Association of Professional Ice Hockey Clubs. The club published his statement on its official website.
The vice president of the Czech Ice Hockey Association resigned from his position in the management of APK LH due to the incident from the second semi-final match between Vítkovice and Hradec Králové.
After the Riders’ defeat in overtime at the cabins, Pavlík attacked the referee vulgarly, according to hockey player Jakub Voráček, he even threatened the Hradec Kralove captain Radek Smoleňák with the end of his career.
“A proper man should face all things head on.”
Even on Wednesday evening, the club objected to the performance of the referees in an official way, and Pavlík himself issued his opinion the next morning. And later Vítkovice also reacted to Voráček’s statements.
Now Pavlík wants to close the whole case once and for all. “The right guy should face all things head on, especially the unpleasant ones,” she says.
“I apologize for my words spoken in emotion, and since I must bear the consequences for my actions, I have decided to resign from the post of president of APK LH with immediate effect,” continues Pavlík.
“In view of the heated atmosphere and in the interest of calming the situation, I hereby inform you of my decision now. I believe that from this moment on, our hockey-wise excellent streak will return to the ice and stay there,” he concludes.
“I have decided to resign from the post of APK LH president with immediate effect.”
In the semi-final against Mountfield, Ridera lost 0:2 per game, falling in front of their own fans after separate raids and extra time. The third race of the series is scheduled for Saturday from 5 pm in Hradec Králové.
