“This is proven by the existence low pressure in the waters south of NTB, whose presence is getting closer and closer to Lombok Island. Low Pressure This is a center for rain cloud growth and has the potential to grow into a Tropical Cyclone,” he explained in a written release, Sunday (20/3).
He said these conditions were the basis for the BMKG to issue an early warning of extreme weather for the NTB region, which is predicted to peak daily in the morning and evening.
“This prediction has proven to be quite accurate. In the morning, rain generally occurs fairly evenly throughout the NTB area in general. In fact, the morning rain occurred on March 18 and 19, 2022 for the Lombok Island region, including the Mandalika Circuit,” Budi explained.
Budi said the TMC was deployed to prevent the clouds indicated from the radar from moving towards the Mandalika Circuit, to be immediately dropped outside the circuit area.
“We raced with rain clouds that were moving closer to Mandalika. Before they got closer, we intercepted them. We dropped the rain outside Mandalika. There were new clouds growing, we immediately flew and dropped them again, and so on,” said Budi.
Half a day to the climax of the event in the afternoon, BMKG predictions predict that rain and lightning will occur during the main MotoGP race at 14.00 WITA-16.00 WITA later.
The toughest challenge is grappling with wind gusts that change direction. During the previous 2 days the wind was moving from the southeast to the south, but today it has changed from the north to shift just south of the island of Lombok.
“So it could potentially become a weapon for you, sir, if we sow clouds in the north, while the plane has not had time to return to the Command Post, either because of weather conditions or because of the RI-1 NOTAM which will land at BIL this afternoon,” he concluded.
