An expert commission criticized the exhibition section “Republic and Dictatorship” in the Museum of Military History in Vienna as “out of date and overall inadequate”. This emerges from the evaluation report commissioned by the Ministry of Defense. Although there are no “explicit references to anti-Semitic, racist or right-wing extremist content” in the show, the composition of the objects and their “poor contextualization make it possible to misinterpret the content,” it says. A reorganization is now recommended.
The museum has been criticized for months, among other things for dealing with Austria’s military past and allegations of openness to right-wing extremism.
