Vintage Engines and Million-Franc Ferraris: Reviving Pre-War Cars in Oerlikon

Pre-war cars and a million-franc Ferrari: vintage engines will soon be humming again in Oerlikon

“Indianapolis in Zurich Oerlikon” attracts around 5,000 visitors to the open racetrack every year. The event is vital for the operators of the railway.

On July 25th, vintage cars will be chasing the Velorennbahn in Oerlikon again, here is a picture from 2018.

Sleek vintage cars, passionate drivers and the smell of petrol and bratwurst: these are the keys to success at “Indianapolis in Zurich Oerlikon”. The rendezvous of old and even older vehicles has taken place every summer since 2002 on the open racetrack in Oerlikon and attracts over 5000 visitors each time. On July 25 (or July 27, if it rains), around 60 drivers – the vast majority of whom are men – will again do their laps around the 333 meter long oval in front of amazed faces.
