Rajinikanth starrer Jailer is the film that Tamils are waiting for. After Vijay’s film Beast, the film directed by Nelson Dilip Kumar has a huge cast. Talents from various industries such as Mohanlal, Ramya Krishnan, Shivraj Kumar, Jackie Shroff and Tamannaah come to Jailor.
Malayalam actor Vinayakan plays the villain in the film. There is a story behind the villainous role coming to Vinayakan. Mammootty was originally slated to play the villain in the film. Nelson was the first to bring Mammootty to Rajinikanth. When Rajini heard about the incident, he also got interested and called Mammootty and talked to him. Mammootty, who played a best friend in Dalapati, also admitted that he will be Rajini’s villain.
But later because of being a villain, Rajini was worried about the fight scenes and Nelson also shared the same concern. Then there was a renegotiation on whether Mammootty should play the role of the villain. Vinayakan is the star they have found instead as the powerful villain that Mammootty had planned for.
Rajinikanth himself is narrating about the incident at the Jailer audio launch. ‘A name came up for suggestion. He is a big star. A very good, talented artist, a good friend of mine, asked Nelson how it would be if he did. I said it would be fine. Nelson said, “Am I a good friend of yours, and if you ask me something, I may follow up later.”
I called him and talked about this role. Villain character but a very strong character, you better do it, I said it’s okay if you say no anymore. He said you ask the director to come and narrate the story. I was very happy. I told Nelson that he agreed. Nelson went and told the story and he agreed to do it.
But after a couple of days I felt something was not right. I thought that the character is like this, you can’t beat him. A couple of days later, Nelson came to see me. Nelson was thinking the same thing I was thinking. Having spoken thus, he reached Vinayakan. Showed me his getup. Then went to Vinayakan,’ said Rajinikanth.
In the video, Nelson is seen saying Mammootty to the person standing next to him while Rajinikanth is speaking. In any case, the audience is curious to see how it will be when Vinayakan comes as Rajinikanth’s villain.
