Village shop owner stays for another five years

The village shop cooperative can look back on 40 years of existence. The prospects are optimistic.

32 members of the Seelisberg village shop cooperative met on Friday evening for the general assembly in the Täumli restaurant. President Thomas Bissig reported on a solid financial situation in the cooperative and a successful business year in the village shop. «In the past financial year, our cooperative celebrated its 40th anniversary. At the same time, we have been able to work with our shop operator Volg for ten years in the 2021 financial year,” the President summed up happily. The fact that Volg is extending the collaboration for another five years is a welcome birthday present for the Seelisberg village shop cooperative.

The sales figures of the village shop are also pleasing. In 2021, the third-best result in the history of the village shop cooperative was achieved, which was only just behind that of the record year of 2019. «The good turnover shows the great importance of having a shop in one’s own village. We have to continue to make good use of the offer so that the village shop can be maintained, »explained President Thomas Bissig.

Generous lenders give gifts to the cooperative

In the association’s last year, all private loans totaling CHF 43,000 were repaid early. “To our great delight, we were able to receive 4,500 francs in donations from the lenders as part of the repayment,” Bissig informed the meeting. If the loan from the federal government can also be repaid next year, the only thing left for the cooperative is the mortgage as a third-party charge. Thus, it will be possible to form reserves for investments for the future. Beat Aschwanden also resigned after eleven years on the board. Kathrin Truttmann was elected as her successor by the meeting.
