Viktor Hovland’s Wells Fargo Championship Performance: Day One Highlights and Analysis

Hol ten was a rollercoaster for the Ekeberg boy. The second shot landed just under the green, and Hovland was clearly unhappy. He said “it’s so bad” shortly after the battle.

Discovery’s golf reporters weren’t particularly impressed with the recording. The ball lands eight meters from the hole.

– I don’t think I was very good at that. It’s all night, said Per Haugsrud.

But Hovland won in the end with a birdie.

On the next hole, however, Hovland had to suffer another bogey, before following up with three straight pars.

Hovland recorded his fifth birdie of the round on hole 15, and was back at -2.

– Now it’s about sticking to -2 last three here. It is of course possible to birdie them too, but that means ending up with three pars as a liability. They are so tough, Bjørnstad said.

The Norwegian really got to know that it was difficult. On hole 16 he missed the par putt, which was three meters, and he had to leave with the fourth bogey of the round.

On the second hole, Hovland got away with a par, but then struggled again.

After being out in the rough on the final hole, Hovland hit the ball into the water on the left side of the green. So he left with a double bogey, and even in the end at one shot over par.
