Vigorous Aerobic Exercise Reduces Cancer Risk in Lynch Syndrome Patients: Study

Vigorous aerobic physical activity for 45 minutes three times a week may reduce the risk of cancer in patients with Lynch syndrome, according to a study published in Clinical Cancer Research. The level of physical activity investigated increased the effectiveness of the immune system to remove malignant cells.

Although associations between physical activity and decreased cancer risk have previously been found, this is the first study to identify changes in immunological biomarkers as a function of physical activity. Lynch syndrome is a genetic condition, and patients with this disease can develop neoplasms from a young age, including colorectal or endometrial cancers.
