Viersen district introduces stricter corona protective measures – Rhineland – Nachrichten

The planned measures will take effect on December 30th at 00:00. They include the following five points:

  • In retail and service facilities with customers present, only one person is allowed per 20 square meters of sales area.
  • In factories and offices, people in closed rooms in which more than one person is present must wear at least one everyday mask. An exception applies to people who share an office and also belong to the same household.
  • If people from different households ride in a car, they must wear at least one everyday mask.
  • Anyone who has contact with residents or caregivers in old people’s and nursing homes must wear at least one FFP-2 mask.
  • Doctors, psychotherapists, and pharmacists must wear FFP2 masks when working.

Land allows stricter rules

The Corona Protection Ordinance of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia allows the districts and urban districts to take further corona measures as soon as the incidence value exceeds the 200 mark. Thus, the district of Viersen can now implement the tightened protective measures against the spread of the corona pandemic, which were planned before Christmas.

District Administrator Dr. Andreas Coenen also wants to relieve the already overused hospitals with the additional protection rules. He calls for citizens to keep their distance, especially on New Year’s Eve, and that it is best to wear an FFP2 mask.

The new measures have nothing to do with the detection of the British mutation of the virus in a man from Viersen.
