Vienna: The Greenest City in the World With Over Half a Million Trees

In Vienna, the city government does not shy away from superlatives when it comes to emphasizing positive developments. The approximately 53 percent share of green space in the total area makes Vienna “the greenest city in the world”, according to city press releases. More than half a million trees in the city area, which the Vienna City Gardens take care of, make a major contribution, as formulated in the office of Climate Councilor Jürgen Czernohorszky (SPÖ).
