“Video Tennis: Arthur Fils, the Rise of a Talented French Player”

Three weeks before Roland-Garros (from May 28 to June 11), the French are inevitably expected. While two of the four musketeers (Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Gilles Simon) are now retired, all eyes are on the next generation, embodied by Arthur Fils. Stade 2 followed the 18-year-old Habs as they prepare for the second Grand Slam tournament of the season. In 2021, he lost in the final of the junior tournament against his compatriot, Lucas Van Assche.

Ranked 124th player in the world in the ATP rankings, Arthur Fils has been progressing from week to week since the start of the season. In January, he won his first tournament on the Challenger circuit (second category of tournaments) in Oeiras (Portugal). Two weeks later, he was a finalist in the Quimper Challenger. At Roland-Garros, he should probably participate in his first Grand Slam tournament on the main circuit.
