Video: Sherine penetrates Fadl Shaker’s solitary confinement…in Ain El-Hilweh camp

The Egyptian artist, Sherine Abdel Wahab, has penetrated the isolation of the artist, Fadl Shaker, who resides in the Palestinian refugee camp of Ain El-Hilweh, and cannot leave it, wanted by the Lebanese judiciary for 10 years.

This remarkable visit, in content and form, is the first announced visit by an Arab artist to Fadl Shaker at his residence, where she visited him with her husband, Hossam Habib, during their trip to Lebanon. Local media reported that they met in an evening held on Thursday evening, and the meeting was attended by producer Youssef Harb, poet Ahmed Madi and some friends, including journalist close to Fadl, Hussein Khreis.

The artist, Fadel Shaker, posted a video collected by Sherine Abdel Wahhab and Hussam Habib, via his official Instagram account, and commented on it saying: “What have I been missing from Heidi Friday sweets after so many years, and what I missed you.”

The meeting takes place 12 years after their last meeting. And there was information that they were preparing for a new duet. In a video clip, the two singers appeared to sing their song “Every Year You Are My Love.” Sherine has commented on the song’s success since its release and said, “This song brings people back with it, and there’s no occasion other than when they’re celebrating each other with it.

It was a friendly match, as Sherine sang Shadia’s song “Ya Habibi Ya Masr”, featuring participants Hossam Habib and Fadl Shaker, and a number of their friends, and appeared during the video hugging her husband Hossam Habib.

Fadl also sang in another video clip, “My Heart Follows My Secrets”, and the two sides reminisced about memories of the New Year’s song which was released in 2004. Sherine revealed Fadl’s shyness on camera during filming.
