On the morning of this Wednesday, March 6, a group of normalistas demolished the Gate of the National Palace just at the moment when the press conference of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) was taking place. The protesters forcefully enter the presidential headquarters, days after leading riots in various federal agencies.
According to preliminary information, the security of the presidential headquarters was overwhelmed by the number of protesters who sought to disrupt the president’s message; However, inside the building there are metal fences that not only prevented the protesters from entering, but also the conference was not affected by this fact.
For now it is known that the Mariana Gate of the National Palace was demolished with pipes, sticks and even a truck, which a few years ago the members of the National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE) tried to burn in order to break into headquarters.
Through social networks, videos have been released of the moment in which moments of tension were experienced in the Plancha del Zócalo in Mexico City. The protesters, accompanied by Vidulfo Rosales, who serves as lawyer for the parents of the normal students who disappeared on September 16, 2014, were the ones who deployed to the building to have a private audience with the president.
It should be noted that at the moment no injuries have been reported, while at 9:16 a.m. central time, it was confirmed that the protesters began to leave the place after security deployed the hooded men inside the National Palace. using fire extinguishers, which explains the smoke that was reported on social networks and which was said to be due to explosives used by protesters, an action that was ruled out.
