A miracle ! A video posted to YouTube on Wednesday July 6 reveals striking images. A helicopter nearly hit rocks off Pointe du Raz before managing to right itself in midair.
A rescue in extremis! On Wednesday July 6, a helicopter avoided a spectacular crash near the Vieille lighthouse, off Pointe du Raz (Finistère), reports France 3 regions. On the video broadcast on the Youtube channel of an amateur aviation photographer, we see a device flying near a lighthouse then suddenly falling towards the rocks before managing to recover… just barely. The images were captured by a webcam.
An injured person
The helicopter was heading towards the lighthouse, where work is in progress, to recover equipment. More fear than harm then. However, one person was injured according to an exchange that France 3 regions had with Florian Quiguer, a CGT delegate of the workers who worked on site.
“He explained to me that the accident had occurred when the helicopter was removing one of the frames from the panes of the lighthouse lantern. He was on the walkway. The helicopter lifted the vertical load, was unbalanced and the pilot lost control. The load came to wedge my colleague against the wall and it is because of this that he was injured, “explains Florian Quiguer to our colleagues.
An investigation is underway to determine the exact causes of this accident. The video went around the web with 265,062 views in just two days.
