VIDEO: Look under the lid. This is how the most popular Czech car is assembled – AutoTN.cz

The fourth generation of its bestseller is produced by the Czech carmaker on a modernized assembly line in its main production plant in Mladá Boleslav. 1150 finished Octavia cars leave it daily. Škoda provides a detailed view of their assembly through a short video.

As part of an extensive reconstruction, the Czech carmaker has recently created the preconditions for Enyaq iV electric cars to leave the same line in parallel with the Octavia model with a conventional internal combustion engine. There will be up to 350 of them every day.

“The ability to produce cars in parallel on the basis of a modular platform (MQB) and a modular electrified platform (MEB) is unique within the group. In this way, Škoda Auto can react flexibly to demand for individual model lines,” says Škoda spokeswoman Kamila Biddle.

In production, the carmaker relies heavily on the help of modern robots. They take over work that is physically demanding for the employee. The carmaker had to modify the entire structure of the building and the technology for transporting parts to suit the weight of cars with a purely battery-powered electric drive and assembled components. It has invested over 800 million crowns in the necessary construction modifications.

The modern Octavia is the first Škoda model completely developed under the wings of the Volkswagen Group. Production of the first generation began in the mid-1990s, and so far the last fourth generation premiered last November.
