Friday February 5 comes out Aurora, the Marquis album recorded at Lanmeur, New York and Brussels. Frank Darcel and his band open a new era with sharp guitars.
It all started in Lanmeur, a little over three years ago.
The album comes out in February. Like a new beginning.

Three years and a tragedy

Hits and rock
It didn’t take long for the guitarist with a career strewn with hits for Daho and others to get to work: “We just took the guitar for several days”.
He settled in the studio of Lanmeur, Near deaf expérience, with Eric Cervera and Sébastien Lorho at the helm.

A young Flemish singer
Three years later, here is finally the Marquis album, Aurora. “We quickly agreed on the name. Then we built the repertoire ”. But it took a singer.
The songwriter guitarist did not want to take on the role, although most of the titles belong to him. It is a very young 30-year-old Flemish singer who caught the attention of old post punk guys: “In the studio at Brussels, we recorded keyboards with a friend. He told us about a singer who had impressed him. Immediately it stuck. “
Simon Mahieu had never heard of Marquis de Sade. He was not disappointed: “By looking a little I saw that it was a huge thing” he blurted out, laughing.
The young man also discovers Brittany and the many connections of the group. “It’s pretty amazing. “
–Daho and the others
Very sharp guitars, lots of guests, “it’s a bit of a complete loop with the whole Rennes scene” recognizes Frank Darcel.
Etienne Daho is there of course with a text he composed in homage to Philippe Pascal. The most pop song on the album. The others sound both post punk and very much in tune with the times:
The sound is very current but the titles could have been composed at the beginning of the 80s.
The group also called on the tenors of the scene of that time. In New York, Richard Lloyd of Television came to add his guitar riffs. “It’s a luxury areopagus” admits Frank Darcel.
And despite everything the album is a beautiful homogeneity. Before being able to defend it on stage, it comes out this Friday. Its title says it all: Aurora like a new beginning or rather a new era for Marquis from an old world.
