No, we are not in Australia, and yet! While driving on a road crossing the national forest of Gâvre (Loire-Atlantique), 50 km north of Nantes, a motorist met an unusual, to say the least, early Friday morning, May 29.
A wallaby hopped on the side, leaving no doubt about his quality of marsupial. The man had the reflex to make a video, which made the buzz on social networks, where we see the animal, visibly not afraid, along the road for around thirty seconds, a few meters from the vehicle, before to disappear into the forest.
The information was transmitted to the NFB, but the presence of the wallaby, who is still running, remains unexplained. Has he escaped from an animal park or from the home of an individual who has offered himself this little madness? The mystery remains. And given the size of the forest (4,460 hectares), it is not certain that it will be seen again. Be careful though: if the wallaby is a harmless herbivore, it is always inadvisable to approach a wild animal.
