vice president Ma’ruf Amin in response to the statement by Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan that the KPK (OTT) sting operation is not good for the country. Ma’ruf assesses that the KPK has formulated a comprehensive management and prevention of corruption.
“Corruption, as KPK himself formulated, is done comprehensively, from education, prevention and prosecution, this is highly related,” Ma’ruf said at Borobudur Hotel, Central Jakarta on Wednesday (21/12 /2022 ).
Ma’ruf said that if prevention could be done, it could not be prosecuted. On the other hand, according to Ma’ruf, if prevention doesn’t work, action must be taken.
“So, if prevention or education and prevention has been successful, maybe there won’t be any enforcement, it’s minimal. But, if that hasn’t been successful, education and prevention, maybe the result will be a prosecution Ma’ruf said.
Ma’ruf considers that the prevention and prosecution of corruption are scrupulously carried out.
“So this is for how to prevent recurrence of prosecutions, so yes, so that can be maximized in education and prevention. Maybe that’s what I think, but overall this is what is being done everywhere in the world, including the KPK, using the trident approach, namely education, prevention and enforcement.
Luhut’s statement
Luhut criticized the KPK’s way of working to eradicate corruption. He said that the KPK didn’t need to arrest people a bit.
“We don’t need to talk up. These Oct-Oct are actually not good. For this country, they are really bad. But, if we digital lifeWho wants to fight us,” Luhut said at the launch event of Action for Prevention of Corruption 2023-2024 in Jakarta on Tuesday (20/12).
Luhut later said he had been invited to be interviewed by a media outlet in London. He said Indonesia was praised after successfully holding the G20 summit in Bali last November.
There, he explained that Indonesia has four pillars under development. Of the four presented, he said digitization was key to the nation’s progress.
“I explained about Indonesia. I said there were four of our pillars. One is efficiency, what is digitization efficiency. Second is downstream, third is village funds, the I explained to them. But the first two were crucial, ladies and gentlemen,” he said.
Afterwards, Luhut reminded the KPK not to make small arrests. According to him, if digitization in Indonesia goes well, no one will be able to tamper with the system.
“So if we want to work from the heart, yes, if we’re alive a little bit that’s fine. If we really want to clean up, you’re in heaven,” said Luhut
“So the Corruption Eradication Commission shouldn’t be caught too little by little, let’s take a look. But if this digitization is already underway, you won’t be able to play,” he added.
