The Deputy Minister of Defense of User and Consumer Rights, Jorge Silva, affirmed this Sunday that the obligation to present the covid vaccination card or PCR tests to access public and private sites “is not a joke” and that offenders are they risk a 10-year jail term.

As of January 1, to provide a service or allow entry, banks, supermarkets, markets, public and private entities, universities and churches, among other spaces where people gather, must request the vaccination card.

Those who decide not to receive the doses must present a negative PCR test 48 hours in advance that must be covered with their own money.

“If I do not carry, I do not show these documents (vaccination card or negative PCR) and if they do the test and I have Covid, I am attacking the health of the other users, therefore, they can make me a process,” said Silva on the state channel Bolivia Tv.

The deputy minister said that Supreme Decree 4640 “is not a joke, it is not something that came out and, well, those who want to do so and those who do not want to do not do so.”

He argued that the offenders will be identified and subjected to a criminal action that has a penalty of up to 10 years in prison, however, he stressed that vaccination, as required by law, is not mandatory.

“It is not mandatory, it is considered that there are people who cannot be vaccinated because of a prescription or medical recommendation because they are allergic or there are people who, due to religious beliefs, do not want to be vaccinated and there are other elements that have to do with this issue, therefore, that decision of some citizens is respected ”, he said.
