Max Verstappen had to wait a while for it, but this year it’s finally here. The Dutchman can Lewis Hamilton with this year’s car in the battle for the world championship. Also multiple world champion Sebastian Vettel can enjoy this.
Opposite Motorsport.com the German says he is happy that after a few years there is finally a real challenger for Hamilton. Battle and rivalry, both on and off the track, is important. “Rivalry is good for any sport. I’m a big fan of rivalries with mutual respect. So far we see a very fair fight as far as I’m concerned.”

Vettel hopes Verstappen has what he didn’t have
Vettel knows what it’s like to challenge Hamilton. Bee Ferrari however, the German never had the car needed to really challenge the Brit. Vettel hopes that Verstappen will have that now and next year. “I hope Max has a better car at the end of the season or at least is in a better position than I was fighting Lewis. Unfortunately we weren’t competitive enough to finish it.” Mercedes to make it exciting until the last race. This has made it fairly easy for Lewis to win those championships.”
Championship very exciting
Verstappen and Hamilton have alternated almost after every race this season for the championship lead. The difference was certainly not great in the second half of the season and after every weekend there is a different name at the top of the standings. It looks like this will last until Abu Dhabi, the final race of the season.
