Venice Film Festival Continues Despite Corona Virus | NOW

The Venice Film Festival will continue as planned in early September. Luca Zaia, the governor of the region around the Italian city, reports this to the news agency Reuters.

The Venice Film Festival is the world’s longest running film festival and is being held for the 77th time this year. In January, the festival announced that Cate Blanchett will present this edition.

However, the festival will probably be attended by fewer people from the film industry, said Governor Zaia, who is also a board member of organizer Biennale di Venezia.

Italy plans to lift all travel restrictions from June 3 to allow travelers from the European Union to enter the country without quarantine.

The country registered 119 new deaths from the corona pandemic on Saturday, bringing the death toll in Italy to 32,735 from the outbreak. That is the third highest number in the world, after the United States and Great Britain.
