Venezuelans again escape from detention center on Curaçao | Abroad

Five people were found shortly after the escape, two are still on the run. Last week, two undocumented migrants also escaped, both of whom could be arrested again after some time.

Prime Minister, also Minister of Justice, Gilmar ‘Pik’ Pisas took a look at the barracks after the escape. He told the press after his visit that something must be done to prevent people from escaping so easily. According to Pisas, the recent escapes are related to work currently taking place in the barracks.

Earlier this month, a large group of undocumented Venezuelans trapped in the barracks would be flown back to Venezuela. The government in Caracas canceled that flight at the last minute. Pisas hopes that the undocumented migrants can be sent back to Venezuela before the end of the year.
