Nicolás Maduro assured this Saturday that Venezuela has a state-of-the-art Russian missile system for territorial defense, this in connection with the recent attacks from Colombia with which they intend to mount a false positive to justify acts of violence against the country. At the same time, he ordered the Defense Minister, Vladimir Padrino, to purchase Iranian missiles.
During his participation in a videoconference with the leaders of the Social Movements of the People’s Congress, he assured that Venezuela has the most advanced missile defense systems in Latin America and the Caribbean, bought from Russia for years, for comprehensive defense of the nation.
“They are not to attack anyone, but to defend ourselves from imperialist aggression,” he explained after rejecting the position of Colombian President Iván Duque.
The National Executive questioned the accusations issued by the President of Colombia, who denounced that the Venezuelan Government had bought missiles from the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Given this, the National President said that it would be a good idea. “The idea of Iván Duque is not bad, Vladimir Padrino López had not occurred to us,” he ironically.
Maduro urged the Minister of People’s Power for Defense, G / J Vladimir Padrino López to talk with Iran, and evaluate what short, medium and long-range missiles they have and if it is possible, given the great relations that Venezuela has with the Persian nation to buy good ballistic batteries and strengthen Venezuela’s air, antiaircraft, ground and missile defense.
He explained that Venezuela is not prohibited from buying what it needs in terms of armaments for the country’s defense. “If Iran has the possibility of selling a bullet or a missile, and we have the possibility of buying it, it is a good idea Iván Duque, approved, we are going to do it, we have to study it,” he said.
He applauded the response that Minister Padrino López gave to the recent accusations of the Colombian president. “Godfather, a very good answer that you gave to Iván Duque today, we should multiply it, what a dignified and courageous answer.”
Maduro assured that the Government of Colombia does not know the contributions it makes to the Bolivarian Revolution “Why did Iván Duque come out to say all this? Because it has destroyed Colombia, this year there have been 35 massacres, more than 250 social leaders and defenders of Human Rights murdered ”, he denounced.
He stressed that the coronavirus pandemic in Colombia is a chaos and a disaster, since there have been thousands of deaths, thousands of infected daily, plus the misery, need and unemployment that the neighboring country is experiencing.
“Iván Duque, as a good front man for Álvaro Uribe in politics, goes out to attack Venezuela to change the focus of attention from the real problems of Colombia and to justify an aggression against Venezuela, to call on imperialism against an aggression against Venezuela.
