Van Nistelrooij denies Capello’s statements: ‘Ronaldo is a professional’ | NOW

Ruud van Nistelrooij reacted with surprise to the statements of his former trainer Fabio Capello. According to the now 73-year-old Italian, the former striker in his time at Real Madrid would have complained about a strong alcohol smell in the dressing room, which was caused by the Brazilian Ronaldo.

In an interview with Sky Italia Capello revealed on Wednesday that Ronaldo had a debauched life in his last months at Real Madrid. Even in the dressing room, the former top shooter would have regularly celebrated parties. At the end of 2006, Van Nistelrooij allegedly complained to Capello that the dressing room smelled of alcohol.

“I want to vigorously deny this claim,” Van Nistelrooij, who defends Ronaldo, writes on Twitter on Wednesday. “This powerhouse has always behaved professionally. All my teammates have defended the club emblem with dignity.”

In the summer of 2006, Van Nistelrooij made the switch from Manchester United to Real Madrid and played with Ronaldo for half a season. With seventy hits, the seventy-fold international of the Orange crowned himself directly as the top scorer of La Liga in his first season.

Ronaldo left on a rental basis to AC Milan in January 2007, which he took over six months later. In 2017, Ronaldo said in an interview with the Brazilian branch of FOX Sports that his departure from the ‘Royal’ was partly due to his difficult relationship with Capello.

The now 43-year-old Ronaldo ended his career in 2011. Capello was last active as a trainer in 2018 with the Chinese JS Suning.
