Van der Gijp very candid: ‘I have never seen Johan so excited’

Derksen stated that fifty years ago he put a candle in the vagina of an unconscious woman, only to nuance that story a day later. Van der Gijp refers to Dick Ploeger, who appeared in Derksen’s story. “Johan didn’t tell the best version on Tuesday, by the way; there is also one that even Kaag could laugh about. Anyway, I knew it wasn’t true and that’s why I didn’t attach any value to it. Johan twisted it later, and said that he (the candle, ed.) was standing between her legs. That was bad, but he did it because it just isn’t true. And that was not convenient: then you can’t straighten that out again. That you shouldn’t want to either. Let it blow over. He’s not going to admit it anyway.”

Departure
The Today Inside program ended on Friday and according to Van der Gijp the contracts of Derksen and Wilfred Genee have also been dissolved. “Paul Römer (Talpa CEO, former Ajax commissioner, ed.) has said that he no longer thinks our program is up to date. Well, I said to him, with all due respect: Johan has achieved more in five months on this talk show than he in thirty years. I really try to put myself in Die Römer, that he thinks this talk show does not fit in with this zeitgeist, but why does he say that?!”
