Valve is happy to help Microsoft get Game Pass on Steam

Valve CEO Gabe Newell has opened the door for Microsoft’s Game Pass subscription to come to Steam.

It was during an interview with PC Gamer that Newell was asked whether he has considered a similar subscription scheme for Steam. Exactly that will probably not happen, he replied, but Valve is happy to release other subscriptions.

– I do not think there is anything we need to do ourselves – that is, to create a subscription solution right now. But for [Microsofts] customers, it is clearly a popular option, and we are happy to help them gain [Game Pass] onto Steam.

In that case, it will not be the first time Steam has released external subscriptions. In 2020, EA rolled out its schemecalled EA Play, in the Valve store.

In other news Bethesda recently announced that it is moving its PC games from Bethesda.net Launcher to just Steam. Players will be able to transfer their games sometime in April, and according to the developer, all of the progress will be included.
