Valve has banned developers from promoting versions of games for other platforms on Steam

news/96863/Valve_zapretila_razrabotchikam_prodvigat_versii_igr_dlya_drugih_platform_v_Steam.html"> Company Valve made changes to the Steamworks documentation, updating list of frequently asked questions: “Can I use communities Steamto tell customers about non-Steam versions of your game? “-

Valve’s answer to this is:

In a game you release on Steam and in posts on Steam, you can only promote the Steam version and its availability on Steam, not other distribution points. This applies to both full versions of your game and content patches that modify an existing version.

Apparently, now developers and publishers will not be able to mention other versions of their games in messages to the community regarding both the release and various updates.
