However, according to the Finnish pilot Mercedes, his participation in Saturday’s qualification and Sunday’s race at the Caspian Sea should not be endangered.

“I had some problems with my flight. I’m still at the airport in Finland, but I’ll be at my destination soon. I have a new flight scheduled for Thursday night. My preparation for the race shouldn’t be affected.” Valtteri Bottas said in a video call with the media, citing him on the official F1.com website.

The sixth races of this year’s ephedical series will take place in Azerbaijan. However, the vice-champion of the world from the last two two seasons cannot be satisfied with the previous five. He scored only 47 points in them, which is the least since his arrival at Mercedes in 2017 in the appropriate number of championship events since the beginning of the season.

He did not finish two races (in Imola and Monte Carlo) and so far he finished third at the Portuguese Grand Prix in Portimao. While his teammate and reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton has won three races and is close second overall, Bottas is fourth in the championship standings.

“At the beginning of the season, my mental alertness took over. I have a few unsuccessful races behind me. It’s up to me how I can bounce back and move forward. I definitely don’t want to give up. The season is long and I trust my team and my team that better results will come, “ said Bottas.
