the 28 October 2021, the little patients of the pediatric ward of René-Dubos hospital center from Pontoise (Val d’Oise) welcomed a newcomer: Super Didou.
It’s all foam, about the size of a ten year old child. Dressed in his red cape and black mask on a yellow and blue background, he looks like Super hero.
This mannequin, specially designed to teach diabetic children to practice care procedures, is a therapeutic education tool created by the Yvelines association light bulb young diabetics.
“It complements the approach of pediatric endocrinology services by making it possible to practice and of play down the new gestures required to the treatment of type 1 diabetes “, explains the management of thePontoise hospital.
Created in collaboration with health professionals and tested in several pediatric departments, Super Didou allows caregivers to support young patients and parents when they discover the disease. insulin-dependent diabetes, then when changing protocols as the children get older.
“Quickly adopted by children and parents, it gives them confidence,” concludes the Pontoise hospital center.
