A Cgroup of angry parents du Val-de-Marne will demonstrate in front of the Ministry of National Education, this Wednesday, June 15, 2022. These parents, mainly from Villejuif and Vitry-sur-Seine, denounce the shortage of teachers in schools, colleges and high schools in the department.
“Respect for the right to education”
In an open letter to the new Minister of National Education, Pap Ndiaye, the parents explain: “The parents’ collective of 94 federates many collectives of parents from the towns of Val-de-Marne and fights for the respect of the right to education for all children. This means that each class must benefit from a replacement in the event of the absence of its teacher”.
This is far from being the case in the department, which has experienced a significant shortage in certain sectors, and for a long time. Already in 2020, parents noticed this situation, especially in Vitry-sur-Seine.
“The non-replacement of teachers has become the norm in our department. Significant delays in learning have been taken by the children, following three school years marked by the Covid-19 pandemic. However, at the start of the school year, we will experience up to 163 class closures in primary schools and in the department, including in cities where the number of children will be on the rise and in establishments with priority education, ”they estimate. .
“Our reality as parents”
The collective is at the origin of a video, entitled “Our reality of parents” which was broadcast on Youtube and which looks back on what the Val-de-Marnaise families are going through.
“Since February 2022, we have been carrying out mobilizations to denounce the sinking of our school system, such as demonstrations, occupations of schools, petitions, an operation lifeline and the sending of a mountain of letters to the president of the Republic [Emmanuel Macron, NDLR] “, continues the collective.
This time, parents, together with teacher unions, will demonstrate in Paris, in front of the Ministry of National Education, this Wednesday, June 15 at 3 p.m. They hope to be able to discuss with representatives of the Minister.
