Vaccination of children: When does immunization begin for children under 11 years of age in regions?

Today began in the city of Lima the Vaccination campaign for children between 5 and 11 years old and only in the regions of Ica and Junín was the immunization day also scheduled, reported the Ministry of Health.

At approximately 8:30 am, the parents and their children managed to enter the premises, where the immunization process finally took place. The first child to be immunized was Alejandro Curi, who said he was very proud to be the first vaccinated in the region and urged parents to take their children to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

The regional governor of Junín, Fernando Orihuela, specified that in the region 33,000 doses are available for this first stage, but there are more than 170 thousand children between 5 and 11 years old who must be immunized.

In order to avoid a traumatic response to immunization, the staff of the vaccination center was characterized by various characters and various thematic shows are also presented to entertain the children.

In Ica began the vaccination against Covid-19 for children aged 10 and 11 in the province of Chincha and to encourage minors to receive the first dose, the Health personnel from the San José de Chincha hospital dressed up as characters from cartoons, stories and superheroes.

RPP Noticias spoke with Walter Romani, who dressed as the superhero Iroman. He said that these costumes are part of the strategy called “Chiquidosis of Hope”, to give security to the children who arrive.

“For children to lose their fear and feel confident. When the children arrive they are excited, they get vaccinated, they take photos and they leave more calmly”, he commented,

For the province of Chincha, 7,430 doses have been allocated for five prioritized districts of the province.

In the Ica region, 28,924 children under 10 and 11 years of age will be immunized, for which 30 vaccination clinics were set up in the five provinces of Ica.

Lambayeque

In Lambayeque, the dean of the College of Nursing, Isabel Lizárrga, announced that more than 20 fixed vaccination points will be set up to start the immunization day for children from 5 to 11 years old.

The representative of this professional order specified that since it is a different population to be inoculated, the biosafety protocols will be taken care of to take care of the health of the minors who will arrive with their fathers, mothers and other relatives.

“Basically they are the vaccination points that we know in Chiclayo, but all the conditions will be met to avoid crowds,” he specified.

For its part, the regional management of Health of Lambayeque reported that this Wednesday the arrival of the first batch of vaccines for children is expected and inoculation will begin at the latest by the weekend.

In Arequipa, it is expected to receive this Tuesday, January 25, the first batch of doses to start the campaign on Wednesday or Thursday.

On the other hand, in Cusco, the doses are expected to arrive between today and tomorrow and in Ayacucho, no later than this Wednesday.

The Ministry of Health announced that it will gradually be reported that other regions of the country are starting the vaccination process for this population group.
