The Quebec trucking company Fuel Transport will offer a bonus of $ 10,000 to its truckers who have received or will receive their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine before January 15, 2022.
“With the volatile pandemic situation we are experiencing, the Government of Canada has announced that from January 15, 2022, certain groups of travelers will only be allowed to enter the country if they are fully vaccinated. These groups include in particular the truckers and the latter represent the majority [de nos] employees, ”Fuel Transport said in a statement Thursday.
Thus, this premium spread over 12 months, will be offered to all current truckers of the company who have received at least one dose before January 15, but also to those who will start working for Fuel Transport before this date and who have received two doses.
To get the full amount, drivers must receive both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
“This bonus helps encourage truckers to get vaccinated and also to thank those who did,” said Fuel Transport vice president Peter Perrella.
